Engaging the next generation of New York’s business, civic, and cultural leaders.
In the 1970s, when New York City was on the edge of bankruptcy, a group of business and civic leaders came together to save the city. The meetings became known as the Power Breakfast.
Now, five decades later, the next generation of business, civic, and cultural leaders will unite once again to shape the city's future at the new monthly Builders Breakfast.
Each breakfast will host 150-200 emerging leaders, including members of The Future Forum and young patrons groups from across the city.
Each monthly Builders Breakfast will feature a major business leader in conversation with the head of the foundation or nonprofit they support. In candid conversations, business and civic champions will share their commitment to philanthropy and civic life, helping to inspire the next generation to act. Following each conversation, attendees will receive materials outlining specific ways they can support relevant organizations across the city.
The breakfast series will also invite additional civic and nonprofit leaders who are involved in the issue area relevant to that month’s discussion. Information about how to support their work will be featured in materials shared during the event and in follow-up.
