Through community, policy development, and strategic partnerships, we advance our core priorities around the built environment, education & employment, and democracy & government.

 


about the internship

This summer, we are seeking talented and ambitious interns to join our team for an immersive experience working at the intersection of ideas, community development, and impact. The internship will be hybrid, with opportunities to participate in in-person meetings in New York City.

 

commitment and compensation
Eight to ten weeks with 20-30 hours per week during Summer or Fall 2026. $2,500 stipend for the full internship


Who should apply
Undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates with strong writing, research, organizational, and communication skills who are passionate about public policy, civic leadership, and building the future.

Membership & development internship

 

Help grow The Future Forum’s community, events, and partnerships by supporting our membership strategy and development pipeline.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Executive Director in building and maintaining our annual events calendar

  • Research and identify prospective speakers, moderators, and institutional partners

  • Support venue sourcing and event logistics for public programs

  • Identify potential sponsors and strategic partners for flagship events

  • Research foundations, grant opportunities, and philanthropic prospects aligned with our programming, and assist with donor outreach and materials

  • Track development pipelines and support relationship management across stakeholders

  • Help strengthen membership engagement and retention strategies

 

policy & programs internship

 

Support research, writing, and program development across our core policy areas: built environment, education & employment, and democracy & government.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct policy research and landscape analysis across priority issue areas

  • Draft memos, briefing materials, issue summaries, and presentation decks

  • Support development of policy recommendations and long-term strategic initiatives

  • Research examples and case studies from other cities, states, and national models

  • Help identify and cultivate partnerships with external experts, institutions, practitioners, and relevant organizations 

  • Assist in planning policy roundtables, working groups, and expert convenings

  • Track legislative, political, and philanthropic developments relevant to our work

  • Contribute to special projects tied to major reports, blueprints, and initiatives

 

media & communications internship

 

Help shape how The Future Forum tells its story and engages audiences across digital, print, and media platforms.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Draft copy for social media, newsletters, email blasts, website updates, and member communications

  • Support social media strategy and create content for LinkedIn, Instagram, and X

  • Assist in designing graphics, slides, and visual assets for events and campaigns

  • Draft op-eds, talking points, and short-form thought leadership content

  • Help maintain editorial calendars and content pipelines

  • Monitor media coverage and identify timely opportunities for engagement

  • Support message development around major initiatives, events, and policy releases

  • Assist with press outreach and communications planning for public events
